Privacy, in plain words
Your thoughts
Everything you type is processed by JavaScript running in your own browser. Thought Well has no backend that receives your text. The site itself is static files served by Cloudflare Pages, which handles standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages.
By default nothing you type is saved: close the tab and it is gone. Only if you tick "Keep my text on this device" are your text and title saved in your browser's localStorage, so they are still there next time. They never leave your device. Untick the box or press "Clear saved text" to delete them from this browser at any time.
Deep sort (beta)
Only if you press Deep sort, your browser downloads the open-source WebLLM library (from cdn.jsdelivr.net) and a small open model (Qwen2.5 1.5B, from huggingface.co and raw.githubusercontent.com). Those downloads do not include your text. The model then runs on your device via WebGPU.
Share links
A share link stores your text, compressed, after the # in the URL. Browsers do not send that part to servers, but anyone you give the link to can read the text.
Anonymous counters
To know whether this experiment is worth continuing, the page increments a few public counters (page visits, maps made, exports, signups) at abacus.jasoncameron.dev. Only the counter name is sent, never your text. Like any web request, that service can see your IP address. Counters are skipped if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. The totals are public on the open usage numbers page.
